Arctic Superhealth delivers the purest Omega-3 oil from fresh cod caught in the Arctic sea.

The Benefits of Omega-3

The long-chain omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, found in cod liver oil, are especially important to us, as our bodies do not produce them, they must be obtained through our diet or supplements.

Despite the growing awareness of nutrition and the benefits of omega-3, our normal diet does often not supply our bodies with enough of the essential fatty acids we need for optimal health and development.

Our cod liver oil is a natural and rich source to obtain the fatty acids DHA and EPA.

The human body contains trillions of cells and omega-3s are essential building blocks for the cells. The cell membranes consist mainly of fat. A soft cell membranes enables a smooth transportation of nourishment into the cells and surplus out of the cells. In order to achieve soft cell membranes our body needs a variety of good fatty acids. The body needs EPA and DHA for optimal health and development.

EPA and DHA are important nutrients for the development, function, and maintenance of eye tissue throughout life. DHA is a major structural component of the brain and retina of the eye and therefor particularly important for the vision. The fatty acids can contribute to the maintenance of normal vision, fluid, and flexible eye cells and tissues and help to reduce the risk of dry eyes and inflammations associated with dry eyes.

The human brain is largely composed of fat and the omega-3 essential fatty acids play an important role for optimal brain health and function of the brain throughout life. DHA is a major structural component in the part of the brain responsible for sophisticated information processing like memory, emotion, language, and attention. It also plays an important role in brain cell communication. Deficiencies of DHA have been associated with deficits in learning.

From prenatal babies to adolescents, EPA and DHA are important for visual, brain and immune system development and for normal emotional and cognitive function. The omega-3 essential fatty acids are especially important in early postnatal life as the brain and central nervous system are in a rapid growth. A deficiency in EPA and DHA could have a negative impact on the development or function of these organs.

The human heart pumps blood throughout the body via the circulatory system, supplying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes. The long-chain fatty acids DHA and EPA play an important role in the cell membrane of the heart and blood vessels as the cells in our body need a constant supply of nutrition in order to be active.
Norwegian health authorities recommend a daily intake of 250 mg EPA and DHA to maintain the normal functions of a healthy heart.

The omega-3 fatty acids DHA is a structural component of the skin and responsible for the health of cell membranes, which makes up a large part of skin. The cell membrane acts as a barrier as well as a passageway for nutrients to cross inn and out of the cell. The omega-3 fatty acids are essential for normal skin function and appearance as they help to support a soft, moist, supple, and wrinkle-free skin.
